Spotlight: FOX News Anchor Clayton Morris

MagMaker / April 28, 2015

My name is Clayton Morris and my medium is the news—both of the technological and paranormal variety.

I use Flipboard as my morning newspaper. I scan the news from all of my favorite sources. Some I read right then and there, and some I save to ReadQuick, my speed-reading app for iOS.

The first article I flipped was an article about a UFO sighting in Mexico, which I flipped into my magazine, The Paranormal Post.

The best article I read all week was an article about how researchers believe we should be able to live to 1,000 years old. In fact, they believe the first person to live to a 1,000 is already alive today.

My favorite topic on Flipboard is paranormal news.

A magazine I’ve found on Flipboard that’s made my life better isGetting Things Done,” a magazine for living productively.

My biggest influence is John Gruber, a great writer whom I also consider to be a good friend. His website Daring Fireball is a master lesson in simplicity. He remains laser-focused on the written word and everything else is removed. I admire his commitment to the essence of his craft. Whenever I get off track with some shiny object syndrome I drop over to his website and it helps me refocus.

As a host on the national morning show “FOX and Friends,” my “media diet” includes a boat load of news on Flipboard in order to be ahead of the curve. There’s also a lot of Netflix, live sports, Game of Thrones, The Americans, The Flash, Daredevil.

But I’m pretty sure I listen to podcasts more than anything else. For seven years I’ve been hosting my own podcast (The Grizzly Bear Egg Cafe) so I’m partial to the podcast medium.

I spend 3-4 hours online/reading/watching TV, etc., and my main sources are The Mac Power Users Podcast, The Epic Real Estate Investing podcast, Real Estate Investing Mastery Podcast, iMore.com, The Talk Show with John Gruber, Daring Fireball, The New York Times, and The Atlantic.

A unique productivity tip of mine is transcendental meditation. Sitting quietly for 20 minutes twice a day has changed my life. I get more done, I’m more focused and stress falls away.
